APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • You use the WUI or other API program (such as the CICS Explorer)
to install a SYSLINK definition. On the install request, you use
the STATE CHECK (STATECHK) set to YES option. CPSM finds no
errors, but does not continue with the install of the resource
(as it would with other types of resource installs.)
    .
There are also instances where a STATECHK fails when it should
not, or returns OK when it really should fail.

When the state check option is used for a dynamic SYSLINK
install, method EYU0TALI (TALI) in the MP CMAS builds a list of
all definitions to be installed, and passes this to the
apropriate MASes, indicating that the definitions should only be
state checked. This drives method EYU0BNSC (BNSC) in the MASes,
which checks if the definitions that are to be installed are
already installed in the MAS. If they are, and their state is
not consistent with them being re-installed, then BNSC returns a
state error to TALI, which reports the errors and terminates the
install process. If the definitions are not installed, or are
in a state that allows them to be re-installed, then BNSC
returns an OK status to TALI, which then should resend the
definitions to the MASes with an indication that they should be
    installed.

Part of the information passed to BNSC by TALI, along with logic
errors in BNSC, can result in BNSC performing SYSLINK state
    check processing incorrectly.

A logic error in TALI results it it not driving the install
process if BNSC returns an OK response for a state check.

Problem conclusion

  • BNSC has been updated to correct the logic errors that can cause
it to perform SYSLINK state check processing incorrectly.

TALI has been updated to pass the proper information to BNSC so
that it can perform SYSLINK state check processing correctly.
TALI has also been updated to properly drive the install process
when BNSC returns an OK status for state check processing.
