Error description
CICS shutdown does not complete in a clean way with WMQ CKAM transaction still active. CICS was started and a PLT Program tries to connect to MQ but the QUEUE MANAGER is not active at this time. The adapter is awaiting the initialization of MQ now. If WMQ does not become avaiable and a CICS shutdown is performed, the shutdown could not complete in a clean way because the CKAM transaction is still active. The dump shows that the CKAM transaction has issued an E.C. WAIT EXTERNAL while MQ was not available and is suspended since that time. CKAM is defined with SYSTEM PURGABLE=NO, so the shutdown assist program DFHCESD issues a forcepurge against CKAM. This prevents CICS from a claen shutdown and the message DFHRM0130 does not appear.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A CICS system which normally connects * * to a WMQ Queue Manager will not close * * down if the Queue Manager is * * unavailable when the CICS region starts * * up and remains unavailable for the * * duration of that CICS session. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A CICS region which usually connects to a WMQ Queue Manager will not shut down if the Queue Manager remains unavailable for the duration of the CICS session. This is because the CICS/WMQ monitor task CKAM will never get posted in this situation. The result of this is that the CESD transaction will force purge the CKAM monitor task. Therefore, a warm keypoint is not taken for this region, forcing the user to perform an emergency restart. Keywords: msgDFHTM1781 msgTM1781 DFHTM1781
Problem conclusion
DFHSTP has been changed to set the CICS/WMQ MQCONN connection to NOTCONNECTED during shutdown if it is in a state of CONNECTING.
