APAR status

Error description

  • You upgrade the CPSM MAS agent code in your CICS region, but do
    not properly follow the requirement in the instructions to COLD
    start your region after the upgrade. When the region
    initializes next, you receive EYUNX0013E and EYUNX0014E
    messages, and the MAS agent code shuts down.
    The description of the EYUNX0013E message indicates that CPSM
    would attempt to correctly redefine the transactions, but that
    does not appear to have happened.

    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
    *                 APAR, all MASes must be recycled to pick     *
    *                 up the new code.  Note that regions do not   *
    *                 need to be brought down and restarted at     *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
       CICSPlex SM uses some CICS interfaces which are version
    specific.  Programs and methods which use these interfaces have
    names which identify the version of CICS to which they apply.
    When required resources are created during CPSM initialization,
    module EYU9NXLM (NXLM - Local MAS Bootstrap Program) verifies
    that the proper version programs are installed, and that trans-
    actions which execute version specific programs identify the
    proper program names.
       Transaction CONL, the MAS Agent Long-Running Task, executes
    program xxx9XLEV, where xxx is the version-specific prefix.  If
    a MAS which was executing the same CICS and CPSM versions is
    upgraded to a new CPSM version without upgrading the version of
    CICS, and the region is not started COLD or INITIAL, the defi-
    nition of COLM in the catalog will identify the wrong version
    of xxx9XLEV.  A logic error in EYU9NXLM prevents CPSM from
    trying to correct the installed definition if the transaction
    ID begins with the letter "C".
    

Problem conclusion

  • Program EYU9NXLM was modified to invoke EXEC CICS CREATE for
    any transaction whose installed attributes are not correct.  If
    the CREATE is successful, message EYUNX0013E will be followed by
    EYUNX0011W, and the MAS will initialize properly.  If the CREATE
    fails, message EYUNX0038E will be issued to expose the RESP and
    RESP2 values returned by CICS, an exception trace will be gen-
    erated, and MAS Agent initialization will then be terminated.
