APAR status

  • Closed as unreproducible.

Error description

  • A web service call completes successfully, returning what
    appears to be a valid XML response to the requester. However,
    each invocation of the transaction causes a storage violation.

    The trace shows:
    SM 030B SMGF  *EXC* - Storage_check_failed_on_freemain_request
    - FUNCTION(FREEMAIN) ADDRESS(1F3E79C8) REMARK(NAMESPAC)
    .
    and message:
    DFHSM0102 A storage violation (code X'030B') has been detected
              by module DFHSMGF
    .
    The NAMESPAC storage is used to build the associated namespaces
    with the request. The storage is getmained and freemained
    by DFHPISN.

    As a result the trailing checkzone (and following storage)
    are overlaid and the storage violation is detected during
    freemain at normal task termination.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: DFHSM0102 storage violation due to a *
    * null value for xmlns in an incoming Web *
    *                      Service request.                        *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    CICS is acting as a Web Service provider and receives a SOAP
    message with an envelope element that contains a null string
    for xmlns. For example:

    <env:Envelope env:encodingStyle="http://..........."
    xmlns:env="http://........"
    xmlns:xsd="http://........"
    xmlns:xsi="http://........" xmlns="">

    When DFHPISN copies the null string into the DFHWS-XMLNS
    container, the null length is interpreted as a length of 256
    bytes and results in a storage violation.
