Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A transaction, invoked by a web service * * request, abends ASP3 or ASP7 after DB2 * * updates. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A web service request is received by CICS and processed by an Axis2 pipeline. A non-Java application is called which contains DB2 calls. The CICS TCB under which the application is running is associated with a DB2 thread by the CICS DB2 attachment facility. The DB2 calls are executed successfully. Upon returning to the CICS pipeline domain, a TCB change mode is performed to switch execution from an L8 to T8 TCB. Subsequently when DB2 attempts to dissociate its thread from the CICS TCB it does so using the T8 TCB not the L8 TCB it is associated with. As a result an ASP3 or ASP7 abend occurs and the DB2 updates are backed out. Keywords: DFHAC2249 msgDFHAC2249 AC2249 abendASP3 abendASP7

Comments
DFHPIPM has been modified such that if a TCB change mode is required upon return from an invoked application program, the CICS RMI is notified. This allows for the successful dissociate of an associated DB2 thread if required.
