Error description
Abend AEIU / ILLOGIC errors occur after upgrade to CICS TS 4.2. The ILLOGIC error is being returned on a DELETE request that is made through the path. CICS trace shows that the request is getting an exclusive control conflict ( 080514 ). CICS retries the ERASE request but the task again receives the 080514 response and the task is put in an FCXCPROT suspend. CICS then retries the ERASE request against the base but after the request returns from VSAM, CICS returns an ILLOGIC error (RESP=21 RESP2=110) to the application. . Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Illogic error returned for a delete of * * a record from a path. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A delete of a record from a path is issued. The erase call to VSAM returns 080514, indicating an exclusive control conflict and the fact that the upgrade set may be inconsistent. CICS needs to reissue the erase but against the base file. Routine RETRY_DELETE_USING_BASE_KEY is called, but this saves and restores the existing vswarpl around the call to erase the base file's record. When it then tests vswartnc to see if the erase has worked, it still contains 08 from the original exclusive control conflict. This results in the error path being taken and illogic being returned to the application. KEYWORDS: AEIU abendAEIU AIX alternate index DFHFCVS1
Problem conclusion
DFHFCVS has been altered to test the result of the erase call against the base file when deciding whether the retried delete has worked or not.
