Error description
You upgrade your CPSM environment from a pre-4.1 release which did not have Sysplex Optimized Workload Management to one that does (4.1 or higher.) The MP CMAS is upgraded first, as required. . While you are still in a mixed-release environment (pre-4.1 CMASes mixed with 4.1 or higher CMASes) you use a WUI connected to the higher release and set the CICS System Definition record (CSYSDEF) to set "WLM optimization enablement" field WLMOPTEN to ENABLED. . Optimized Workloads did not exist prior to CPSM 4.1, so CMASes running a pre-4.1 release do not get their version of the CSYSDEF record updated. . When those lower-level CMASes are then upgraded, the EYUDREP upgrade utility EYU9XDUT expands the CSYSDEF records in their CMAS repository to include the new fields, but it initializes them with the default values, which is to have WLMOPTEN set to DISABLED. When the upgraded CMAS now makes first contact with the MP CMAS and performs repository synchronization, the correct values for these new fields are not exchanged, and we now have two CMASes with different values for optimization for the same MAS. . When a MAS in this situation connects to the CMAS which believes optimization is disabled, it will not connect to the Region Status Server, and therefor not write a record to the coupling facility data table in the RS Server. But the connected CMAS believes it would have, and when it goes to read the record for the MAS in the RS Server, it fails. A trace record is written similar to the following: . TASK:12345 METHOD:WMAA PRIOR:WMBA DEBUG:WMAARSSR POINTID: 22 TRANID:WMWC MAJOBJ:WLM ENVRN:CMAS TYPE:EXCEPTION TOD:HH:MM:SS.TTTTT UOW(CPSM): SYSTM:ABCD NAME:ABCDEFGH CICS-TASK:54321 . MethName WMAA,WMBA,WMBP,WMBS,WMWB,WMWC,XLOP . RSSR rsp LEN:000001 ALET:00000000 ADDR:28005AE2 0 - 02 . RSSR rsn LEN:000001 ALET:00000000 ADDR:28005AE3 0 - 0A . . The RSSR RESP/RSN of 02/0A mean: 02 - RSSR_EXCEPTION 0A - RSSR_TARGET_NOT_KNOWN . DFHRSSR sets this response and reason when it goes to read the coupling facility data table record for the MAS and doesn't find it there. A message is also written to the EYULOG: . EYUWM0508I Target region (masname) optimization termination reason: (RS server failure). . Trying to browse workload-related views in the WUI when a workload is in this situation may also result in the following message in the WUI . EYUVC1278E Unable to obtain data for requested View. 'GET' (GET) request failed. (Failed, Exception) . Additional Keywords/Symptoms: KIXREVSVR
Local fix
Use the WUI to set optimization to DISABLED and then back to ENABLED to force the change to be sent over.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V5R1M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: After a non-maintenance point (MP) CMAS * * is upgraded from a CPSM release prior * * to 410, the CPSM WLM optimization * * factors for routing and target regions * * connected to the CMAS may be invalid. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note * * that the restarts do not need to occur at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** The WLM optimization factors for routing and target regions are stored as attributes in the CPSM data repository CSYSDEF record for the region. These attributes were added to the CSYSDEF record at CPSM 410. When a CMAS is upgraded from a previous release, the CSYSDEF records are updated to include these new attributes, set to their default values. If after the MP CMAS was upgraded to 410 or greater, the attributes are changed to non-default values, all pre 410 non-MP CMASes that manage the CICSplex associated with the CSYSDEF will not be updated with the change, as their version of the CSYSDEF record does not contain the attributes. When those CMASes are upgraded to 410 or higher, they will be updated to include the attributes at their default values, which will differ from what the MP CMAS specifies.
Problem conclusion
Changes have been made such that all CSYSDEF records for a CICSplex are passed to a non-MP CMAS that has been upgraded from a release prior to CPSM 410, the first time it connects to the MP CMAS after the upgrade is performed. This will ensure that all CSYSDEF record attributes in the upgraded non-MP CMASes are consistent with the MP CMAS.
