Error description

  • The client implement the Java-based Web Services by using Axis2:
Java-based open source web services engine and sample pipeline
configuration files - basicsoap11javaprovider.xml. The client
DID NOT specify a CCSID when generating the WSBIND file.
    .
When an Axis2 PIPELINE is used, the WSBIND CCSID is not
specified, however it uses the default as the Web Services
Assistant, which is 037. The application data is now processed
as if it is in CCSID 037 which causes all of the DBCS
    characters to get corrupted.

Local fix

  • Generate the WSBIND file using CCSID=937

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Axis2 Provider pipeline corrupts DBCS *
    * characters during sending of response. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
An Axis2 provider PIPELINE is being used in a CICS system that
is using a DBCS EBCDIC codepage for LOCALCCSID (eg 937). A
WSBIND file has been generated without specifying the CCSID
    option.

The application is executed as part of the pipeline and creates
a container containing the application data. This container is
created using the LOCALCCSID value set in the SIT.

As the pipeline processes the response it incorrectly uses 037
instead of the LOCALCCSID value to convert the application data
which leads to the data becoming corrupted.

Problem conclusion

  • Changed WebServiceResource.java, JsonWebServiceResource.java,
    CICSUtils.java, CICSAxis2ApplicationHandler.java,
Controller.java and DFHPIWR to correctly determine the CCSID
to be used when converting the application data.

Changed DFHPITH requester case to ensure that the correct
codepage is used on the WRITE_REQUEST call to DFHWBCL.
