Abstract

Automation and other MVS tools that use a REXX interface can use CA1D to run CICS programs. Automated Operations Control/MVS (AOC/MVS) and Netview are examples of such tools.

MVS Web server programs can easily call CICS programs through the use of this SupportPac.

CICS EXCI interface to REXX provides a full function External CICS Interface (EXCI) program that allows a REXX EXEC to invoke a CICS program. A REXX variable can represent the COMMAREA for input to the CICS program and any modifications to the COMMAREA made by the CICS program are reflected in the REXX variable upon returning from CICS. Return codes are passed back to the REXX EXEC in specialized REXX variables.

Prerequisites

You will require:
  • CICS/ESA 4.1 or higher as an entry point for applications
    Assembler compiler
    General CICS skills
    REXX knowledge
