Error description
When recycling CPSM's CMAS, the customer goes through the routine of issuing the COSH transaction in each of the LMAS's connected to the CMAS, then brings down the CMAS and ESSS. After the CMAS comes back up, they run COLM in each of the LMAS's so that they will reconnect. After EYUXL0016I lmasname LMAS shutdown complete message is issued, another EYU message is seen in the log, indicating that an EXTRACT EXIT failure occurred: EYUNX0019E NOAPPLID EXTRACT Exit EYU9NXSD failed, EIBRCODE= 800200 Note that the lmasname has NOAPPLID for a name, CPSM has terminated in the LMAS __ When issuing the EYUNX0019E message EYU9XESM compresses the message for EYU9NXSM, but in the process an overlay occurs, causing corruption in datatable control blocks.
Local fix
Only enter COSH one time per LMAS. If the transaction is entered two times, the overlay occurs.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V3R1M0 Users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A storage overlay may result when a MAS * * issues message EYUNX0019E 'EXTRACT Exit * * EYU9NXSD failed, EIBRCODE=nnnnnn'. * * * * This message can be issued if the COSH * * transaction is run in a MAS when the * * MAS is already disconnected from * * CICSPlex SM. * * * * The error that occurs after the overlay * * depends on the storage that is updated. * * In the reported case, the CICS Data * * Tables Data Space anchor was changed. * * This lead to message DFHFC0001 * * reporting a 0E0 (AKEB) abend at offset * * X'FFFF' in module DFHFCDTS when a * * data table was accessed. * * * * Other possible errors include storage * * violations, Abend 0C4 etc. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all CMASes and MASes must be recycled * * to pick up the new code. Note that the * * restarts do not need to be done at the same * * time. * **************************************************************** EYU9XEMS is the CICSPlex SM Environment Services Message Services program. It is typically invoked by other CICSPlex SM routines when the normal CICSPlex SM message service is not available. EYU9XEMS will compress a message if an insert passed to EYU9XEMS is smaller than the length of the insert defined in the messages skeleton. If the short insert is the last part of the message, then a logic error causes an invalid length to be used for the message compression, causing up to 256 bytes to be moved to the left. Such a move will shift data beyond the end of the EYU9XEMS dynamic storage area.
Problem conclusion
The short insert compression logic in EYU9XEMS has been changed so that the invalid move is not performed. EYU9NXTM has been changed to pass a full length EIBRCODE insert to EYU9XEMS when it issues message EYUNX0019E.
