APAR status

Error description

  • When you pick the 'Close Window' link from the navigation frame
in the Web User Interface (WUI), the browser sends a URL back to
the WUI server to mark this window CLOSED. The resources
associated with the window are freed in the server. The
EYUVC1214E is sent back to the browser letting them know that
    they should close the window.
The message is misleading in that the browser window remains
    open.

    * APAR, all Web User Interface Servers must *

    * that the restarts do not need to be done at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
    - Neither the 'Close Window' hyperlink or the 'Window closed'
response sent to the browser will attempt to close the Web
browser window displayed on the users desktop.

    - When the WUI receives a 'Close Window' request, method
EYU0VISL is invoked in the WUI Server to update the WUI
control blocks associated with the browser window so that they
are eligible for 'Housekeeping' or 'Garbage Collection'. This
'Housekeeping' runs periodically in the WUI, to free resources
associated with dormant windows. Until these resources are
freed, WUI objects will remain allocated to the window, and
therefore not available for other windows or users to edit.

Problem conclusion

  • - The HTML used to generate the 'Close Window' hyperlink has
been changed to invoke a JavaScript function in order to
attempt to close the Web browser window. This will only
function on a JavaScript enabled Web browser.

    - EYU0VISL has been updated to perform the 'Housekeeping' of
      closed windows immediately.
