Error description

  • User performed an adhoc BAS install from a RESGROUP for a very
large set of PROGDEF resources into a SCOPE which spanned
multiple CMASes. A MAL needs to be sent to a CMAS with a
namelist of resources. In this instance the cache storage to
hold the list is larger than x'7FFFFF'. In this specific case,
the BAGI (BAS Adhoc RESGROUP Install) MAL is received by a CMAS
and method CTRP (Transport Services Source Recomposition)
process the BAGI MAL fields and for the NAMELIST goes to label
CTRP_NLSD to obtain the cache storage for the namelist. If, as
in this instance the namelist storage is greater then x'7FFFFF'
the XCBA (Cache Block Acquire) method call will return with
    XCBA_RESPONSE of XCBA_INVALID and XCBA_REASON XCBA_INVALID_SIZE.
This will generate an exception trace with debug text INVSIZE
and PointId 24 . Method XCBA needs to be invoked using the
FSIZE parameter which supports fullword size versus the SIZE
parameter which only support a 3 BYTE length.

    CNST_INVL_SIZETEXT DCEQ_INVL_SIZETPID INVALID_SIZE BAS
EUI user timeout waiting for BAS install to complete.

    ****************************************************************
An adhoc BAS install from a RESGROUP or RESDESC containing a
very large set of resources (for example, PROGDEFs) into a SCOPE
which spans multiple CMASes appears to complete successfully
but generates an exception trace entry. To satisfy this request
a MAL (Method Argument List) is built containing a NAMELIST of
resources and sent to a CMAS. Cache storage is acquired to hold
the NAMELIST. When the NAMELIST storage is greater than
x'7FFFFF' the XCBA (Cache Block Acquire) method call will return
with a RESPONSE of INVALID and a REASON of INVALID SIZE.

Problem conclusion

  • Updated EYUQXCBA (XCBA - Acquire Cache Block) and EYUQXCBR (XCBR
    - Release Cache Block) to use the FSIZE parameter which supports
a 4 BYTE length versus the SIZE parameter which only supports a
    3 BYTE length.
