Error description

  • CPSM needs to obtain SVCDUMPs in all CMASes spanning a CICSplex
for certain errors to improve FFDC (First-Failure-Data-Capture).
MVS SLIP requested SVCDUMP cannot dump across SYSPLEX boundary.
CICSplex environments often consist of a CMAS network which
span MVS SYSPLEX boundary. Method XZSD (External Services
Create SVC Dump) should add an option to broadcast the XZSD
MAL to all CMASes or the CICSplex.

    - XZSD can be called to request an SVC dump. This is normally
used in site specific traps or from the COD0 transaction.
When called, XZSD currently will take a dump of the current
address space and optionally one additional address space on
the LPAR. XZSD needs to be updated to allow it to request
dumps in any CMAS the local CMAS is connected to either
       directly or indirectly.

    - When EYU9XLRV or EYU0XZPT request an SVC dump, they request
dumping of specific dataspaces based upon the components of
the methods called by the task up to the time of the dump
request. While this normally ensures that the proper
dataspaces are dumped, the MAS dataspace, which is used to
hold buffers during communications requests between CMASes
and MASes, normally is not dumped during a communications
problem between a CMAS and MAS since MAS methods are not
normally called by a task during this process. Additionally,
no MAS component methods are ever called in a CMAS, so a CMAS
will never dump the MAS dataspace.

When debugging problems in a MAS that result in a dump, it is
usually desirable to also have the CMAS address space present
       in the dump.

Problem conclusion

  • - Method XZSD has been updated to allow a caller to specify
that the dump request should be broadcast to other CMASes
that the local CMAS is connected to, either directly or
indirectly. The request is broadcast to the other CMASes
after the dump is taken locally.

    - EYU9XLRV and EYU0XZPT have been updated to always request the
MAS dataspace when requesting a dump of a CMAS or MAS.

Method EYU0CIIN (CIIN), which is called during the CMAS and
MAS connect process in a MAS, has been updated to store the
ASID of the CMAS in the XLWA control block in the MAS. When
EYU9XLRV or EYU0XZPT are called to request an SVC dump in the
MAS, they will verify that the MAS is still connected to the
CMAS, and if so, retrieve the CMAS's ASID from the XLWA to
request that the CMAS address space be included in the dump.
