Error description

  • You have an CPSM API program that access the TERMNL (terminal)
    resource table that receives INVALIDPARM (1028) CRITERIA (1299)
    when using:
    GET TERMNL
    CRITERIA TERMID=T* AND TRANCNT>20000.
    This problem does not occur if the TRANCNT field is less than
    19968, or greater than 23807.

       During the parsing of a CRITERIA expression, comparison
    values are converted from external to internal form. Module
    EYU0MOFS (MOFS - MOS Convert Data Values) is called to con-
    vert attribute values from external to internal form. If a
    generic "*" is specified for a numeric attribute, MOFS will
    return INVALID_DATA because "*" is not a valid character in
    a numeric value.
       Module EYU0XDOP (XDOP - CRITERIA String Parser) then checks
    the converted value to see if it contains generic mask char-
    acters ("+", "*"). For hexadecimal strings, the generic test
    is performed on the external form; for all other types the
    internal form is checked. If the internal (binary) form of a
    numeric attribute contains X'4E' ("+") or X'5C' ("*") it will
    be processed as a generic, and will probably result in failure
    of the command.

Problem conclusion

  • Module EYU0MOFS was modified to check for a single asterisk
    "*" passed for a numeric attribute, and if found to set the
    output value to "*" and the output length to 1.
       Module EYU0XDOP was modified to check the external form of
    comparison values for numeric attributes, rather than the in-
    ternal form, for generic mask characters.

Comments

  • You write an API program which
    executes a GET command for TERMNL
    resources selected by a CRITERIA
    string based on the value of the
    TRANCNT attribute.  A CRITERIA
    string with a generic value for a
    numeric attribute, for example
    TRANCNT=*, fails with:

         RESPONSE=1041 (INVALIDATA),
         REASON=1299 (CRITERIA)

    For selected specific values, for
    example TRANCNT>20000, the GET fails
    with:

         RESPONSE=1028 (INVALIDPARM),
         REASON=1299 (CRITERIA)
