APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• You are trying to get a status of all of your EXCI batch
  programs that attach to CICS regions.  The data is not easily
  available through CPSM.
  The Web User Interface (WUI) needs to have an easy way to access
  this data in a SINGLE SYSTEM IMAGE.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex SM V3R1M0 Users.                *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CICS tasks entering the system via the  *
  *                      CICS External CICS Interface (EXCI)     *
  *                      can be difficult to identify in the     *
  *                      CICSPlex SM Web User Interface or API.  *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
  *                 APAR, all CMASes, MASes and WUI servers must *
  *                 be restarted to pick up the new code.        *
  *                                                              *
  *                 The restarts need not be performed at the    *
  *                 same time, however if systems are not        *
  *                 restarted at the same time, the following    *
  *                 rules apply:                                 *
  *                                                              *
  *                 - Maintenance point CMASes must be restarted *
  *                   on the updated code before non Maintenance *
  *                   point CMASes, MASes and WUI Servers.       *
  *                                                              *
  *                   If you have more than one Maintenance      *
  *                   point CMAS and those Maintenance point     *
  *                   CMASes are connected directly or           *
  *                   indirectly, then these maintenance point   *
  *                   CMASes must be restarted at the same time. *
  *                                                              *
  *                 - Before a MAS or WUI server runs with the   *
  *                   updated code, the CMAS to which the MAS or *
  *                   WUI server connects to must be restarted   *
  *                   with the updated code.                     *
  *                                                              *
  *                 Additionally, users of the CICSPlex SM       *
  *                 supplied starter set viewsets and menus must *
  *                 re-import the starter set viewset and menu   *
  *                 definitions into each Web User Interface     *
  *                 (WUI) server's repository in order to pick   *
  *                 up the view and menu changes.                *
  *                                                              *
  *                 Users requesting EXCI objects will need:     *
  *                                                              *
  *                 - READ access to the OPERATE.TASK.           *
  *                   <cicsplex>.<scope> resource in the         *
  *                   CPSMOBJ class if CICSPlex SM object        *
  *                   security is active.                        *
  *                                                              *
  *                 - READ access to the EXCI resource in the    *
  *                   XCMD class associated with the MAS if      *
  *                   CICSPlex SM simulated command security     *
  *                   is active for a MAS.                       *

  EXCI users can have difficulty identifying tasks running within
  a CICSplex via CICSPlex SM. Rather than using the single system
  image capabilities of CICSPlex SM, users have to log-on to
  each CICS and use the CICS INQUIRE EXCI function to identify
  the EXCI tasks.
  

Problem conclusion

• A CICSPlex SM Resource table called EXCI has been defined. This
  table is available for API/WUI and EVALDEF use. The EXCI
  resource table is available for CICS 620 and higher MASes.
  
  An additional CICSPlex SM supplied WUI viewset, EYUSTARTEXCI,
  has been created. Views within this viewset may be reached via
  the updated EYUSTARTNAVIGATE and EYUSTARTTASK menus.
  
  If CICSPlex SM object security is active, users will require
  READ access to the OPERATE.TASK.<cicsplex>.<scope> resource
  in the CPSMOBJ class before EXCI data is returned.
  
  Additionally, if CICSPlex SM simulated command security is
  active for a MAS, users will require READ access to the EXCI
  resource in the XCMD class associated with the MAS.
