Error description

  • When starting up multiple CMAS's at the same time, there may be
a timing window that will cause the Quiet Side CMAS to have the
receive link task wait for CMAS initialization to complete
    (XLOP_ENVIR_WAIT).
EYU9XLOP gets the XLWA (EYURXLWA) address from TCBCAUF
(EYURXECB) at +x'28' (XECB_XLWA). If this field is zeros due to
the XECB being initialized, but NOT the XLWA, the LNMI or LNCI
    task could time out.
The connection between the CMAS's will eventually be made, but
could take up to 5 minutes.

    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all CMASes must be restarted. Note *
    * that the restarts do not need to occur at *
    *                 the same time.                               *
    ****************************************************************
When two CMASes which have CMTCMDEF definitions to each other
become active, the CMAS with the lower alphanumeric CICS SYSID
will send a request to start transaction LNMI (MRO) or LNCI
(CPI-C) in the partner CMAS, where module EYU9XLOP will run to
start the CPSM environment for the task. EYU9XLOP performs
checking to verify if the CMAS has completed CPSM initialization
and if so, allows the task to continue. If not, EYU9XLOP will
either fail the request, or if the PTF for APAR PK03349 is
applied, will issue a delay for one second and recheck. If
after 225 delay loops the CMAS is still not initialized,
EYU9XLOP will fail the task, asking the originating CMAS to
    retry the connection attempt.

Part of the determination as to whether the CMAS is initialized
is for EYU9XLOP to retrieve the address of the CPSM Kernel
Anchor block (XLWA). Depending upon when the LNxI task starts,
the location from which EYU9XLOP retrieves the XLWA address may
have not yet been set. As a result, EYU9XLOP will retrieve low
values as the XLWA address. This will cause unpredictable
results, usually leading to the CMAS delaying initialization for
approximately five minutes waiting for the connection to
    complete.

Problem conclusion

  • EYU9XLOP has been updated to verify that it has retrieved a
non-zero address for the XLWA. If not, it will delay for one
second and try again. If after 225 delay loops the address of
the XLWA is still zero, EYU9XLOP will fail the task, asking the
originating CMAS to retry the connection attempt.

Comments

  • CMAS initialization may be delayed if
the CMAS specifies START=AUTO in its
CICS SIT parms, and another CMAS with
a lower alphanumeric SYSID to which
it should connect (both CMASes have
CMTCMDEFs to each other) is already
    active.

The delay will last for approximately
five minutes, after which the CMAS will
    complete initialization.

If the PTF for APAR PK05183 is applied,
the CMAS will receive the following
    message just before it completes
    initialization:

      EYUCS0108E The initialization wait
                 for CMAS connections to
                 complete has terminated
                 before all connections
                 have completed

which will be followed by a dump with a
    title similar to the following:

      EYU0XZPT Dump,<cmasjobn>,<cmasname>,
      <lpar>,CMAS,LSRT,<tasknum>,TRAC,
      EYU0CSLT,<date>,<time>

Examination of the EYULOG of the
partner CMAS will show the following
    message:

      EYUCS0010I Enhanced <type> Network
                 connection to CMAS <name>
                 being initialized

where type is either MRO or CPI-C. The
partner CMAS will eventually fail or
    retry the connection. If the
    connection is failed, the following
messages will be displayed in the
    partner CMAS's EYULOG:

      EYUCS0204W A timeout has occurred
                 with CMAS <name>

                 connection with CMAS
                 <name>

If the connection is retried, the
following messages will be displayed in
    the partner CMAS's EYULOG:

      EYUCS0009I Message received from CMAS
                 <name> : EYUXL0152I CMAS

                 being retried due to:
                 Partner System request

at which point the connection will either
complete, fail, or be retried again.
