Error description

  • You have VTAM=NO specified in the DFHSIT's in your CICS regions.
You have CICSRGN monitoring active (MCICSRGN). When EYU0MCCD is
called to process the data, a program check occurs in the
CONV_DWORD_PACK routine on a CVB (convert to binary)instruction.
Running a CICS region with VTAM=NO can also cause a large number
of exception trace entries to be written to the CMAS AUXTRACE
with Debug:BADIQVTM Point-Id:402. This trace is written every
time that a heartbeat is generated in the LMAS.

    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this *
    * APAR, all CMASes and MASes must be *
    * restarted. Note that the restarts do not *
    * need to occur at the same time. *
    ****************************************************************
When VTAM=NO is specified in the CICS SIT for a system, the EXEC
CICS INQUIRE VTAM command will return a RESP of INVREQ, and the
EXEC CICS COLLECT STATISTICS VTAM will return a RESP of NOTFND.
The methods that issue these commands for CPSM do not recognize
this as an indication that VTAM is not available, and instead
issue exception trace entries and do not set appropriate default
values for the data that was to be returned. This results in
    the errors documented above.

Problem conclusion

  • Methods XLAC, NMCR, NLHD, and NQCR have been updated to
recognize if VTAM=NO has been specified in the CICS SIT, and if
so, to set appropriate default values for the data that would be
returned from the EXEC CICS commands, and to not issue exception
    traces.

Comments

  • Various errors may occur when a CMAS or
MAS has the VTAM=NO parameter specified
    in the CICS SIT.

If VTAM=NO is specified for a CMAS:

    - The CMAS resource table will
       indicate N/A for the VTAMACB
       attribute. Additionally, every time
the CMAS table is requested, an
exception trace will be written by
       method EYU0XLAC (XLAC). The trace
will have an exception point ID of 1
and a debug text of EYU0XTRP.

If VTAM=NO is specified for a MAS:

    - If MCICS CPSM monitoring is active
for the MAS, abend ASRA S0C7 will
occur in method EYU0MCCD (MCCD) in
the CMAS to which the MAS is
       connected every time the monitoring
       data is collected. Additionally,
       every time monitoring data is
       collected, two exception traces will
       be written by method EYU0NMCR
(NMCR). The first trace will have
an exception point ID of 402 and a
debug text of BADIQVTM. The second
trace will have an exception point
ID of 407 and a debug text of
       BADCOLVT.

    - Every 15 seconds, method EYU0NLHD
(NLHD) running in the MAS will issue
an exception trace. The trace will
have an exception point ID of 402
and a debug text of BADIQVTM. If
auxtrace is active in the MAS, this
can lead to the trace datasets
       filling with these trace entries.
Also, since MAS traces are shipped
to the CMAS to which it is
       connected, the CMAS's trace datasets
       can fill also.

    - The CICSRGN resource table will
indicate N/A for the VTMSTATUS and
       GRSTATUS attributes. Additionally,
every time the CICSRGN table is
       requested, two exception traces will
       be written by method EYU0NQCR
(NQCR). The first trace will have
an exception point ID of 402 and a
debug text of BADIQVTM. The second
trace will have an exception point
ID of 407 and a debug text of
       BADCOLVT.

Methods XLAC, NMCR, NLHD, and NQCR have been updated to
recognize if VTAM=NO has been specified in the CICS SIT, and if
so, to set appropriate default values for the data that would be
returned from the EXEC CICS commands, and to not issue exception
    traces.
