Error description

  • You receive message EYUXU0218I Batch CREATE request complete -
Status (INCONSISTENT_SET) - Associated fields RESDESC. This
occurs when you you have two program definitions that have the
same remote name and try to associate them to the same related
    scope.

    ****************************************************************
When a FILEDEF, PROGDEF, TDQDEF, or TRANDEF that has a remote
name is linked to a RELATED system, if an existing definition of
the same type with the same remote name is already linked to the
RELATED system, then method EYU0BMRA (BMRA) is called to perform
    inconsistent set checking.

    - If the RESDESCs are the same for both definitions, BMRA will
fail the request with an inconsistent set error.

    - If the RESDESCs are different, then BMRA will call method
EYU0BMRB (BMRB) to compare the two definitions to ensure that
there are no inconsistencies. Since there are attributes
within the definitions that may contain different irrelevant
data (e.g, reserved attributes, description attributes,
obsolete attributes, ...), BMRB uses entries in table
EYUTBMZT to temporarily clear these attributes in the
existing and candidate records, and then compares the entire
records. Currently, EYUTBMZT is missing entries for some
attributes that should not be tested for inconsistent set
processing for the FILEDEF, PROGDEF, and TRANDEF tables. If
any of these attributes contain data that is not identical,
the compare will fail, and an inconsistent set error will be
       returned to the caller.

Additionally, BMRB must reset attributes that do not apply to
the RELATED system to null values before the compare is
performed (e.g, REMOTESYSTEM). The PROGDEF_TRANSID is not
being nulled even though it is not relevant for RELATED
       systems.

Problem conclusion

  • The following changes have been made to resolve both instances
    of invalid inconsistent set errors:

    - BMRA has been updated to not return an inconsistent set error
when the RESDESC is the same for definitions that have the
same remote name. Instead, BMRA will call BMRB to check the
records, as it already does when the RESDESCs are different.

    - EYUTBMZT has been updated to contain entries for all
attributes that do not need to be tested for inconsistent set
processing in the FILEDEF, PROGDEF, and TRANDEF tables.

BMRB has been updated to clear the PROGDEF_TRANSID attribute
for RELATED systems. This change has also been added to
methods EYU0BMES (BMES) and EYU0BMER (BMER), to ensure that
PROGDEF_TRANSID is not populated when performing a start up
install (BMES) or an adhoc install (BMER) of a PROGDEF in a
       RELATED system.

Finally, BMRB has been updated to recognize that the default
for the PROGDEF_CONCURRENCY attribute is QUASIRENT.

Comments

  • If two different FILEDEFs, PROGDEFs,
TDQDEFs, or TRANDEFs that have the same
    remote name (xxxxDEF_REMOTENAME) are
linked to the same RELATED system, an
inconsistent set error may occur for
    the RELATED system(s).

The error will always occur if both
definitions are linked through the same
RESDESC. It may occur if the RESDESCs
    are different.

When a FILEDEF, PROGDEF, TDQDEF, or TRANDEF that has a remote
name is linked to a RELATED system, if an existing definition of
the same type with the same remote name is already linked to the
RELATED system, then method EYU0BMRA (BMRA) is called to perform

    - If the RESDESCs are the same for both definitions, BMRA will
fail the request with an inconsistent set error.
