  • Your CMAS Aux trace has lots of trace entries like this:

    This trace entry shows than an EXEC CICS INQUIRE TASK was done
    and got back an INVREQ condition with a RESP2 of 1 meaning
    SUSPENDVALUE is specified but significan characters were lost.
    .
    This is the same kind of thing that CPSM APAR PQ40559 was taken
    for.
    .
    Also, those same NQRA exception trace entries show up with
    an EibResp of 0000005B meaning TASKIDERR.  That is a very normal
    condition and we probably should not be making an Exception
    trace entry for that.

    *                        is greater than eight bytes in length *
    *                        will be missing from TASK EUI/API/WUI *
    *                        and RTA requests.                     *

    *                        Examination of the Aux trace data     *
    *                        will show an exception trace from     *
    *                        method NQRA with a DEBUG text of      *
    *                        BAD RESP and a Point ID of 402.       *
    *                                                              *
    *                      - When NQRA is called to obtain task    *
    *                        related information for a specified   *
    *                        task and that task has completed,     *
    *                        NQRA will record an exception trace   *
    *                        entry.                                *
    *                                                              *
    *                      - If method EYU0XDNR fails an API       *
    *                        request with a FAILED/EXCEPTION       *
    *                        response and reason, no exception     *
    *                        trace is requested.                   *

    * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this    *
    *                 APAR, all CMASes and MASes must be recycled  *
    *                 to pick up the new code.  Note that the      *
    *                 restarts do not need to be done at the same  *
    *                 time.                                        *

    - Method EYU0NQRA (NQRA - Generic Receiver Inquire Specific)
      is called from the TASK key list processor to obtain the
      information required to build the TASK resource table.
    
      NQRA will issue an EXEC CICS INQUIRE TASK with the
      SUSPENDVALUE option. If the TASK being waited on has a suspend
      resource name that is longer than 8 bytes, NQRA will receive
      an INVREQ response with a RESP2 of 1. Because of the bad
      response NQRA will fail the request for the task instance and
      no information will be returned.
    
    - If NQRA is called to obtain TASK related information for a
      task that is no longer in the system, then an exception
      trace will be requested reporting a TASKIDERR response.
    
    - EYU0XDNR (XDNR - CMAS API request analysis) calls various
      API methods in order to process an EXEC CPSM API request.
      If one of these called methods fail, when the API response
      is O.K. XDNR will change the API response to FAILED with
      an API reason of exception. If this occurs, XDNR does not
      take an exception trace, which can make problem determination
      difficult.
    

Problem conclusion

  • - The Generic Receiver tables, used by NQRA, have been updated
      so that the EXEC CICS INQUIRE TASK uses the RESNAME keyword.
      This will allow a full 16 byte suspend resource name field
      to be stored in the TASK SUSPENDVALUE attribute.
    
    - NQRA has been updated so that if a TASKIDERR occurs, no
      exception trace is taken. Changes have also been made so
      that a TASKIDERR response can optionally be traced using
      Level 31 tracing.
    
      Additionally, the exception trace routine in NQRA has been
      changed to trace the full Generic Receiver work area instead
      of just the EIBRESP fields. This allows the EXEC CICS INQUIRE
      TASK parameter list to be traced.
    
    - XDNR has been changed so that an exception trace will be
      taken if it sets the API response and reason to FAILED
      EXCEPTION.
