Error description
An EYUTS0002E message may be issued for a MAS during CMAS restart. A timing issue with component initialization may provide a window where a request may be sent to a MAS for a component that has not completed initialization yet. . An exception trace is issued with RESPONSE 5 and REASON 128 (x'80'). In the situation for which this APAR was opened, the exception trace record is: . It was the BAS component that had received work but was not yet fully initialized in the MAS. . When this problem occurs, the MAS will disconnect, as seen by messages: EYUXL0012I applid ESSS disconnect complete EYUXL0016I applid LMAS shutdown complete . If CPSM is used in this region for routing, by coding the following SIT parms: . DTRPGM=EYU9XLOP DSRTPGM=EYU9XLOP . The region may experience many EYUO abends. . Local fix
Restart MAS agent code by issuing transaction COLM.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICSPlex/SM V3R1M0 Users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message EYUTS0002E may be issued to * * indicate a Topology Connect failure * * when a restarted CMAS attempts to * * connect to MASes that were active * * when the CMAS was restarted. * * * * Examination of the CMAS's auxtrace * * datasets will show an exception trace * * issued by the MAS(s) that failed to * * connect. The trace will indicate the * * Method is XLOP, will have a debug text * * of "TARGTMAL" and a trace point Id of * * 1. The full version of the trace * * record will indicate a "XLTRRESP" of * * x'05' and a "XLTRREAS" of x'80'. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: After applying the PTF that resolves this * * APAR, all MASes must be restarted. Note * * that the restarts do not need to occur at * * the same time. * **************************************************************** When the MAS agent is started in a MAS, module EYU0CLEV (CLEV) is started under a long running task to receive requests sent from the CMAS to the MAS. When the MAS agent is restarted due to the connected CMAS being restarted, CLEV is started before component initialization is complete. This can result in the MAS attempting to process a request before it is able to do so. If this occurs, the request will fail, and the CMAS will fail the Topology Connect of the MAS, issuing message EYUTS0002E.
Problem conclusion
The following changes have been made so that CLEV startup will now be synchronized with component initialization: - the Kernel component anchor block, EYURXLWA, has been updated to define a synchronization event control block (ECB). - method EYU0XLBV (XLBV), which calls the Communications component initialization routine which will start CLEV, has been updated to clear the new ECB before the call. - method EYU0XLBI (XLBI), which is called after XLBV completes to perform initialization for external components, has been updated to post the new ECB when component initialization is complete. - method EYU0CLEV (CLEV) has been updated to wait on the new ECB during initialization. Once the ECB has been posted, CLEV will start processing incoming requests from the CMAS.
