Error description

  • If a non-MP (non-Maintenance Point) CMAS "CMASA" is removed from
the plex while another CMAS "CMASB" is down, CMASB will
eventually learn that CMASA is out of the plex, but not before
it adds it in during initialization.
Because of this behavior, there is a potential for thousands of
EYUTS0012E messages to flood the system until all CMAS are back
    in-sync.

When a CMAS initializes, for each CICSplex it manages, it builds
a CMAS for CICSplex Directory (CMCPDIR) record for each remote
CMAS which also manages the CICSplex. When the local CMAS needs
to send records related to a specific CICSplex, it uses the
CMCPDIR records it built for the CICSplex to determine which
CMASes to send the records to.

Since the local CMAS builds these records before connecting to
other CMASes, it may build a CMCPDIR record for a CMAS which has
been removed from managing the CICSplex. When this occurs, it
will send records to the removed CMAS, resulting in EYUTS0012E
error messages being issued by the removed CMAS.

Problem conclusion

  • CMAS initialization has been updated so that a CMAS will not
build a CMCPDIR record for a remote CMAS until both CMASes have
joined the CMAS network and have exchanged network topology
    information.

Comments

  • When a CMAS is removed from managing a
CICSplex, the removed CMAS may issue
    message EYUTS0012E, similar to the
    following:

      EYUTS0012E CICSPlex <plexname> Not
                  Found

    While some EYUTS0012E messages are
normal during the remove process, it is
abnormal for the messages to continue
long after the remove process has
    completed.

This may occur if a CMAS is removed
    from managing the CICSplex while
another CMAS which manages the CICSplex
is not active, and then the inactive
    CMAS joins the CMAS network.

CMAS initialization has been updated so that a CMAS will not
build a CMCPDIR record for a remote CMAS until both CMASes have
joined the CMAS network and have exchanged network topology
    information.
