The IBM Java SDK shipped with version 6.0.0.0 is 1.4.2.

On HP-UX and Solaris the IBM Java SDK is integrated into the refresh pack and is installed when the refresh pack is installed.

On other UNIX platforms the install package will be found when the tar file is unpacked and can be used to install the new IBM Java SDK. On Linux Power 32 bit and 64 bit packages are provided.

After unpacking the tar or zip file please see the Quick Beginnings manuals for information on how to install this refresh pack.

2.0.1 Windows specific maintenance install

Before installing this refresh pack, remove any installed WebSphere MQ interim and test fixes.

2.0.2 HP-UX specific maintenance install

Installing WebSphere MQ v6.0 on HP-UX where the product and maintenance packs have been put into the same software depot.

If you are attempting to install WebSphere MQ v6.0 for HP-UX from a software depot which also contains a WebSphere MQ v6.0 maintenance package, you will need to use the install option autoselect_dependencies=false". In the swinstall GUI, this can be selected by unchecking the option "autoselect dependencies when marking software" in the "Options"->"Change Options" panel. Note that you must install the base package first, followed by the maintenance package. You may not select them both for simultaneous install.

Warning: Disabling the autoselect_dependencies will disable some checking for dependancies and must not be used when uninstalling maintenance packs.

2.1 Installation of new versions of the IBM Global Security (GSKit)
product component.

2.1.1 GSKit version history

This refresh pack provides a new version of GSKit. The versions of GSKit shipped with the V6.0 products

WebSphere MQ GSKit
  VRMF     version
6.0.1.0  7.0.3.18 (except Solaris for the x86_64 platform)
6.0.1.0  7.0.3.19 (Solaris for the x86_64 platform only)
  6.0.0.0  7.0.3.15

2.1.2 Installing GSKit versions on Windows

On Windows the new version will be installed automatically when the refresh pack is installed and will be removed if the refresh pack is removed.

2.1.3 Installing GSKit versions on UNIX (including Linux) products

AIX Install the gskta.rte and gsksa.rte packages from the installation media using the installp command, for example, assuming the media containing the refresh pack is the current directory:

installp -ac -d. gskta.rte gsksa.rte

Solaris Shut down all MQ applications and any other products that are using GSKit. Before installing the WebSphere MQ refresh pack uninstall the old level of the GSKit packages using the commands:

pkgrm gsk7bas

pkgrm gsk7bas64

During the uninstallation process you will be warned that other products have a dependency on the gskit packages, reply 'Yes' to continue the uninstallation process.

When installing the WebSphere MQ refresh pack the new GSKit packages gsk7bas and gsk7bas64 will be listed with the WebSphere MQ package, they should be selected for installation.

Linux Before installing the WebSphere MQ refresh pack upgrade the GSKit packages using the
rpm -U command as follows ( xxxx represents the architecture string for the platform )

rpm -U gsk7bas-7.0-3.18.xxxx.rpm ( for all platforms )

and

rpm -U gsk7bas64-7.0-3.18.xxxx.rpm ( for those platforms where we supply a 64-bit version of GSKit)

HP-UX The GSKit packages are included in the same depot as the WebSphere MQ refresh pack. Selection of the MQSERIES filesets for installation will automatically select the appropriate GSKit packages.

HP-UX 11.11 for PA-RISC:
The level of GSKit provided with this refresh pack, 7.0.3.18, requires that system patches PHSS_26946 and PHSS_30970 are installed before GSKit will install.

2.1.4 Reverting to an earlier level of GSKit

If you need to revert to an earlier level of GSKit you should uninstall the currently installed level using the appropriate uninstall command for your operating system and reinstall the required level from the media on which it was supplied using the instructions that came with it.

Note that you should normally use the highest level of GSKit required by any product in use on the system.

2.2 Versions of this refresh pack with and without GSKit.

For WebSphere MQ V5.3 there were two packages of each fix pack: one containing all fixes and new versions of GSKit and one without the GSKit fixes. For WebSphere MQ V6.0 one version of the package is available. This package can be used to update products which have been installed with, or without, the GSKit function.
