  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • JSP compilation attempt fails with NoClassDefFound for JDT
    compler "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.eclipse.jdt.interna
    l.compiler.env.ICompilationUnit"

Local fix

  • Use the JDK compiler instead of the JDT compiler. Use jsp config
    parameter useJDKCompiler=true for this switch

    ****************************************************************
OSGi 3.1.2 needs a writable area for instance data. The
default is to create a workspace under the userid's homedir.
Under certain circumstances the user id may not have a writable
home dir OR the userid may fall back to use a generic
temporary location to which it does not have the proper write
permisions. This causes an error to occur when OSGi tries to
create the directory or to write to it. This becomes more of
a problem with the OSGi 3.2.1 release, as it looks for and
tries to create this instance location much earlier.

Problem conclusion

  • Solution is to control the location of where the instance data
for OSGi is to be written. All WebSphere Application Server
commands using OSGi will now find or create a writable
location, which OSGi can use for its instance location area.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion
    in fixpack 6.1.0.3.
