APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The daemon takes an abend0c4 because there is corruption in the
    PCE cpool where the free chain was overlaid. This can happen
    when there are multiple cells running in the LPAR and some are
    running with a level of code that includes APAR PI85206 and
    some don't.
    The joblog will show the abend0c4:
    BBOO0033W Processing for signal 'SIGSEGV' (11) with
    si_code='<unknown>'(255) si_errno=0 si_addr=00000000 , in
    current thread (315020000000000B 00ACBB58).
    BBOO0034W Terminating the current thread (315020000000000B
    00ACBB58), REASON=C9C20009.
    The abend0c4 has this traceback:
    bboclssa(CF_SessionHandle*,void*,void*,MVS::STOKEN*,int*,int
       -000B40EC              bbgcf
    CF_Local_Connection::init_As_Server(Lscb*)
      +000005C8              bbgcf
    CF_Local_Connection_Object_Manager::processAsyncAcceptComple
      +000000CE              bbgcf
    ACR_ExecutionThread::RemoveAndProcessWork(ThreadCleanUp*)

    ACR_ExecutionRoutine
      +0000021E              bbgboa
    If 5 of these abends happen in a 10 minute window, the daemon
    will terminate with this message:
    BBOO0035W TERMINATING THE CURRENT PROCESS, REASON=C9C21246

Local fix

  • Run all cells on LPAR either at fix pack levels that include
    PI85206 or do not include PI85206 - versus a mixture where some
    cells include PI85206 and some don't.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WebSphere Application Server for *
    *                      z/OS receives ABEND0C4 in BBOOBIND      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    ABENDS0C4 may occur in modules bboobind or bbooubnd within load
    module bbodpcrt within a Controller. The cpool used to track
    local communication binds (ETCON) may become corrupted.
    This can lead to 0C4's under the bboobind and bbooubnd pc
    routines.
    The environment that may lead to this corruption is a local
    comm connection across cells within the same system in which
    one cell has APAR PI85206 installed and the other does not.

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been modified to eliminate the cpool corruption when
    using local comm across cells within the same system.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.15 and 9.0.0.10. Please refer to the
