PH04524: WEBSPHERE APPLICATION SERVER FIXPACK FAILS TO INSTALL DUE TO INVALID JAVA 6 CHECKING.

APAR status

Error description

  • Install of WebSphere Application Server Fixpack incorrectly
    flags application server for usage of Java 6.  The programing is
    picking up the server name of _1x6_ the was exit code greps for
     the server in the managesdk output:
    "${INSTALL_ROOT}"/bin/managesdk -listEnabledProfileAll |
    /QOpenSys/usr/bin/grep "1.6_.*$" >> $LOG
    

Local fix

  • Recreate the server or use a custom script to rename the server.
    

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:  All users of IBM WebSphere Application      *
    *                  Server V8.5.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: On IBM i, install of fix pack           *
    *                      8.5.5.13 or 8.5.5.14 may fail when a    *
    *                      server name matches the regular         *
    *                      expression "*1.6_*".                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:  Apply Fix pack 8.5.5.15                     *
    ****************************************************************
    On IBM i, if a server name matches the regular
    expression "*1.6_*", eg "www156_region1", then the install
    of fix pack 8.5.5.13 or 8.5.5.14 will fail.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The WebSphere Application Server is fixed to look for the
    correct pattern at fix pack install time.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.15.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates

Temporary fix

  • Rename the server that matches the pattern "*1.6_*"
    before installing the fix pack. If that is not possible,
    please call IBM support for further assistance.
