Local fix
the restart doesn't alway work because of a change to the JVM so this provides a system property to stop/wait/restart instead
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server using the administrative console to * * restart application server jvms. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Not all jvm resources are released * * before the jvm appears to be stopped. * * The start portion of the restart may * * occur before the resources are * * released. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Instead of using the console to restart * * the servers, stop the servers, wait a * * period of time, then start the servers. * **************************************************************** JVMs are not release resources before the JVM is started again so those resources may not be available to the newly started JVM.
Problem conclusion
The console is now providing a Custom property for the deployment manager jvm so that instead of using a restart to restart the application server jvms, the console will stop, wait a number of milliseconds specified by the custom property, then start the server. com.ibm.websphere.console.server.restart.delay 10000 The default if the property is set with an invalid value is 10000 milliseconds. If a valid integer is provided, that value is used. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.15, 9.0.0.11.
