Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server who also use IBM MQ. *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: AdminTasks incorrectly set *
    *                      MQQueue.CCSID and MQTopic.CCSID,        *
    *                      causing DetailsJMSException with        *
    *                      message ID JMSCMQ1006.                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When modifying or creating instances of configuration types
    MQQueue and MQTopic using admin tasks
    AdminTask.extractConfigProperties and
    AdminTask.applyConfigProperties, the attributes MQQueue.CCSID
    and MQTopic.CCSID can become set to 0. This causes MQ to
    throw "DetailsJMSException" with message ID
    "JMSCMQ1006".
    When this problem occurs, the incorrect value is visible
    in a "resources.xml" configuration file, with the text
    'CCSID="0"' appearing for MQQueue or MQTopic elements.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem was resolved by changing the default values for
    MQQueue.CCSID and MQTopic.CCSID to 1208.

    (If MQQueue or MQTopic objects have been created with
    values explicitly set to 0, these must be updated using
    configuration tools to either unset the value or to set the
    explicit value of 1208. Application of this APAR does not
    correct the explicit set value of 0.)

    (This problem may be resolved without applying the APAR by
    correcting the CCSID value, as described in the previous
    paragraph.)

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 8.5.5.17 and 9.0.5.2. Please refer to the
