    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When Checkpointing is turned ON in a *
    *                      Network Deployment environment,         *
    * it increases the node synchronization *
    *                      time.                                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    In the current scenario, when the checkpointing is ON in a
    Network Deployment(ND) environment, in addition to checkpoints
    being generated on the Deployment Manager they are
    also generated on the Nodes during node synchronization.
    And, when dealing with larger applications and
    greater checkpoint depths there is a significant delay in
    the node synchronization.

Problem conclusion

  • This fix provides an option through a custom property to
    avoid
    checkpoint generation on the Nodes when Checkpointing is
    turned ON the Deployment Manager.
    So, when the Checkpointing is ON and the custom property
    com.ibm.ws.checkpoint.bypass is set to TRUE on the
    Deplyoment Manager and all the Nodeagents then checkpoints
    will be generated on the Deployment Manager only and not on
    the Nodes during node sync.

    The fix for this APAR is targeted for inclusion in fix pack
    8.5.5.18 and 9.0.5.4.
