APAR status

Error description

  • Set "weight 1" and "fixedweight yes" in the standby mode LB,
and use "manager quiesce" to quiesce the server.

    Execution
    command:
    dscontrol server set
    CLUSTER_ADDRESS@PORT_NUMBER@SERVER_ADDRESS weight 1
    dscontrol
    server set CLUSTER_ADDRESS@PORT_NUMBER@SERVER_ADDRESS
    fixedweight yes
    dscontrol manager quiesce
    CLUSTER_ADDRESS@PORT_NUMBER@SERVER_ADDRESS

    When you unquiesce
with "maneger unquiesce", the server weight is set to the
    default value.
The weight does not change even if LB is taken
over to change from standby mode to active mode.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: With fixed weights on the standby LB, *
    * if the server is unquiesce, the *
    * fixed weight value will be lost. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The manager does not run on the standby LB. When a server is
quiesced, the fixed weight value is saved by the manager but
since it is not running on the standby, it is not saved and
therefore not restored when the server is unquiesced.

Problem conclusion

  • Modified code to save the fixed weight value outside of the
manager code so that the value is retained on the standby LB
when the server is quiesced and then unquiesced.
