• When the server is started the following message is received:

  /

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the WebSphere Application Server   *
  *                      is started a SRVE0288E error is         *
  *                      reported due to "chown" command         *
  *                      failure.                                *

  When the WebSphere Application Server is started the following
  SRVE0288E error is reported:
  com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp E SRVE0288E: chown failed,
  tried to run command:
  [/usr/bin/chown
  $path]
  Exit Code: [1]
  

Problem conclusion

• The WebContainer has been modified to no longer call the
  offending "chown" command for the IBM i Operating System.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
