Error description

  • After the migration option to re-install the application
    with the migration generated scripts there is a failure when
    to running install_all_apps.jy

    The instructions in the script, say install_all_BLAs.txt
    must run before install_all_apps.jy

    However, there is an error when this is run:
    WASX7017E: Exception received while running file
    "<migrationdirectory>/nnnnnnnn/
    dmgr_backup/install_all_BLAs.txt"; exception information:
    com.ibm.bsf.BSFException: excption from Jython

    2Fcom.ibm.websphere.migration.express.doc

    where it notes this:

    Business level applications, assets, and composition units

    The install_all_BLAs.jy script is generated and placed in the
    backup directory. This script can migrate all business level
    applications, assets, and composition units located in the
    backup directory to your target profile. The
    WASPostUpgradeBLAHelper.bat/.sh script, located in
    the <WAS_PROFILE_ROOT>/bin directory, is used to migrate the
    business level applications, assets and composition units in the
    install_all_BLAs.txt file.

    Member such as INSTALL.WAS855.WZTDMGR.CNTL(INSTBLA) can be
    editted as follows:

    BPXBATCH SH +
    <WAS_PROFILE_ROOT>/bin/WASPostUpgradeBLAHelper.sh +

    /<migration dir/nnnnnnnn>/dmgr_backup/install_all_BLAs.txt +
      1> /tmp/wsadmin_PBLA.out    2> /tmp/wsadmin_PBLA.err

    to run the WASPostUpgradeBLAHelper.sh

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Instructions in the generated *
    *                      install_all_apps.jy script were         *
    * incomplete and not well formatted *
    *                      causing confusion.                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Updated the instructions in the install_all_apps.jy script to
    be more precise on how to create the BLA data and also on how
    to install all the applications manually or one at a time.

Problem conclusion

  • Although there was no real problem with the migration itself,
    the manual instructions written to the generated
    install_all_apps.jy script were incomplete and very confusing,
    particularily when dealing with the BLA data. This change
    provides a better set of instructions to install application
    manually.

    APAR PI09910 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
