Error description

  • When the ServerName directive is updated with http:// or
https:// in front of the hostname in the Administrative console
under Web servers > webserver_definition > Global Directives,
the ServerName directive is prefixed with #ERROR#.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1) From the administrative console navigate to
    Web servers > webserver_definition > Global Directives

    2) Change the Server Name to: http://server.ibm.com:80
    3) Click OK to save, then Propagate the change to the web server
    4) From Web servers > webserver_definition click the Edit
button next to http.conf to view the file.
    5) Scroll to the ServerName directive which is incorrectly
updated as #ERROR# ServerName http://server.ibm.com:80 instead
    of ServerName http://server.ibm.com:80.

The problem does not cause a start or stop problem with the
    IBM Http Server.
WebSphere Application Server v7, v8.0 and 8.5 are affected.

Local fix

  • Manually edit the httpd.conf file and remove #ERROR# from the
    front of the ServerName directive.
Save the httpd.conf file and restart the server.
