PI13001: FEDERATED REPOSITORY DOES NOT ALLOW LOGINS FOR USERS WITH REFERRED GROUP MEMBERSHIPS WHEN REFERRALS=IGNORE

Error description

Per Java specifications, when an LDAP request is made with
referrals set to ignore, the call will throw a
PartialResultException if there are any referred attributes for
the object being requested. This can prevent users from logging
in.

Login fails with PartialResultException if the LDAP referral
setting is ignore and some attributes are referred in the LDAP
server.

Problem conclusion

To allow login to the user even if referral is ignore, VMM
needs to handle referral setting from the VMM side. To do
that we need to configure one custom property with a value of
ignore. With this VMM will ignore that exception and will
allow user to login.

Use the following CLI to configure the new custom property and
give the value as ignore.

$AdminTask setIdMgrCustomProperty { -id <ldap_repo_id > -name
vmmHandleReferal -value ignore }

$AdminConfig save

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 7.0.0.33, 8.0.0.9 and 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the
