APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The -agentlib:HeapDetect is missing from the server.xml
  because defaultXD is not in the list of templates in the
  console. This can cause HeapDetect to not work properly, which
  adversely impacts Memory Overload Protection.
  

Local fix

• Manually add -agentlib:HeapDetect parameter to JVMs which were
  created with default template.
  

Problem summary

  On starting a WebSphere Application server at version 8.5 and
  above, it requires the attribute -agentlib:HeapDetect on
  the command line.  Since this attribute does note exist in
  some conditions, the server cannot be started.
  

Problem conclusion

• The native code is updated to automatically pick up the
  correct level of the class without requiring the attribute
  agentlib:HeapDetect.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.2.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
