    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The wasservice add command was enhanced to allow the user to
specify a timeout option and this timeout value would be used
to control the timeout period on every start issued from the
Microsoft Windows services. If start is issued from the command
line, the timeout parameter should still be added to use a
custom timeout. Default is for the service to wait up to 20
minutes for the application server to start.

Problem conclusion

  • A parameter "-timeout <value>" was added to the wasservice add
command. Program usage shows the exact syntax.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix pack 8.0.0.10 and 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the Recommended
    Updates page for delivery information:
    http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=180&uid=swg27004980

Temporary fix

  • The timeout value for the Microsoft Windows service can be
added directly by modifying the service entry in the Microsoft
Windows registry to append a -timeout <value> to the imagePath
entry. The value is represented in number of seconds.
