Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Full * * Profile versions 7.0, 8.0, 8.5 users using * * EJB 2.1 CMP entity beans. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: java.lang.ClassCastException is * * thrown instead of * * javax.ejb.FinderException on * * findByPrimaryKey method error. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In rare instances, calling the findByPrimaryKey method on an entity bean results in a java.lang.ClassCastException. When this occurs, a javax.ejb.FinderException should be thrown instead.
Problem conclusion
A custom property com.ibm.ws.pm.forceEJBFinderException was introduced into persistence manager. When com.ibm.ws.pm.forceEJBFinderException is set to true, a javax.ejb.FinderException will be thrown when a java.lang.ClassCastException occurs on a findByPrimaryKey call. This custom property is not enabled by default. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 7.0.0.35, 8.0.0.10, and 8.5.5.4.
