Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server Client Container * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A TRANSACTION_ROLLEDBACK exception * * occurs when a request is routed to * * quiescing server from the application * * client container. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** If a request from an application client container is routed to a server that is in the process of shutting down, instead of simply rolling back the transaction, the client has the ability to reroute the request dynamically to a different server. This avoids the need to roll back the transaction due to the server quiesce. This functionality was not implemented in the client container. APAR PK32350 addresses the same problem for requests originating from the server.
Problem conclusion
This APAR ensures that if a request from a client container is received by a server that is quiescing then, if possible, that request is rerouted dynamically to another server. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.3.
