Error description

  • This is a problem in the Intelligent Management feature of
    Plug-in version 8.5.5.

In the web server error log, customer may see "segmentation
    fault" errors like this:

[notice] child pid 1234 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

A DEBUG trace of the web server Plug-in Intelligent Management
feature shows a Permission Denied error like this:

ODR:DEBUG: failed to bind to unix domain socket at
    odrlibport.1234: Permission denied

This happens when the web server is started as non-root. And
the non-root user does not have permission to create the
    odrlibport file.

Local fix

  • work-around is to start the web server as "root" user instead.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The http plugin is attempting to start an uninitialized
Intelligent Management function. The Unix domain socket is
not available due to the non-root user running the http plugin.

Problem conclusion

  • Customization code is now available to correctly configure an
alternate location for the Unix domain socket. Create
Intelligent Management custom property named OdrPortPathPrefix
with value indicating the absolute path to a useable filesystem
    location.

Further the http plugin will not attempt to start the
    misconfigured Intelligent Manamgement feature.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
