APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Deploying a web application through the deployment manager does
  not reflect the changes properly with respect to environment
  entries for web modules.
  Blank values in the console should remove corresponding
  settings in web.xml
  
  This was not encountered in other versions of WebSphere
  Application Server (v7 or v8).
  

Local fix

• Manually edit web.xml
  

Problem summary

  When an existing value of an environment entry is replaced
  with an empty string value during an application deployment,
  the new empty value is not reflected. The old value is still
  displayed as the value of the environment entry.
  

Problem conclusion

• The logic to handle an empty string as an environment entry
  value has been corrected.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5.4.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
  page for delivery information:
