    command line option when starting the Java application:
    -javaagent:<WLP_HOME>/bin/tools/ws-javaagent.jar

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Applications may fail to start when *
    * running an embedded server without *
    *                      the Java agent.                         *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    It is considered a best practice for users who embed Liberty
    Profile servers to use the Java agent - specifically:
    -javaagent:<WLP_HOME>/bin/tools/ws-javaagent.jar
    Embedders of WebSphere Liberty Profile 8.5.5.2 who do not use
    this Java agent may see their Java EE applications fail to
    start.

Problem conclusion

  • Embedders experiencing this problem can correct it by starting
    the server using the Java agent as specified above. This
    problem has been resolved in the next fixpack, meaning that
    embedders will be able to start the server without the Java
    agent, and their apps should start up as expected.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
