APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• JAX-WS web service with PreDestroy/PostConstruct annotations on
  web service methods, and while the PostConstruct method is
  being called, the PreDestroy method is not being called.
  PostConstruct method is suppose to be called after web service
  constructer. PreDestroy method is suppose to be called when
  class is to be destroyed.

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: @PreDestroy is not called when a JAX-   *
  *                      WSservice endpoint is to be destroyed   *

  The JAX-WS spec only defines that @PreDestroy should be
  supported for handlers. In the current version, there is no
  support for @PreDestroy for a service endpoint.
  

Problem conclusion

• The @PreDestroy should be supported for service endpoint. Then
  when a service endpoint is to be destroyed, the method with
  annotation @PreDestroy will be called, after that the handlers'
  @PreDestroy will be called, and finally we call the destroy
  method of the service endpoint.  The fix for this APAR is
  currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.4.  Please
