Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users who use JAX-WS on IBM WebSphere * * Application Server Liberty Core * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: @PreDestroy is not called when a JAX- * * WSservice endpoint is to be destroyed * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The JAX-WS spec only defines that @PreDestroy should be supported for handlers. In the current version, there is no support for @PreDestroy for a service endpoint.
Problem conclusion
The @PreDestroy should be supported for service endpoint. Then when a service endpoint is to be destroyed, the method with annotation @PreDestroy will be called, after that the handlers' @PreDestroy will be called, and finally we call the destroy method of the service endpoint. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.4.
