PI22830: 404 NOT FOUND ERROR GENERATED FOR A REQUEST WITHOUT A TRAILING SLASH

Error description

A 404 error is generated for a request without a trailing
slash after the context root. It works fine with the trailing
slash.

For example:
https://hostname/context_root - fails with 404 error
https://hostname/context_root/ - success

Local fix

Add the trailing slash to the end of the request.

If a request is made to the context root of the application
without using a trailing slash, and there is a filter doing a
redirect to a relative URI, WebContainer constructs an
incorrect redirect URL.  This causes the redirected request to
fail.

Problem conclusion

The WebContainer code was modified to parse the request URI
correctly in the case where the trailing slash is missing.


The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.10 and 8.5.5.4.
