Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Running startServer after installing * * a fix pack may take a long time to * * complete. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** An installed fix pack may contain one or more long running startServer time configuration actions that result in startServer taking longer to complete.
Problem conclusion
To make the user aware of this situation, a user, or stack product, can optionally enable console progress reporting of startServer time configuration actions. This option is disabled by default, and can be enabled via either setting WS_CMT_PI_STARTSERVER_CA_MESSAGES=true in an environment variable or in <WAS_HOME>/properties/wasprofile.properties. When enabled, console messages will include messages of the form "Running configuration action XXXX" or "Running long-running configuration action XXXX" as appropriate. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.4.
