    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Parameter order for securityUtility *
    * command line tool affects outcome *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The securityUtility command line tool can mishandle parameters
    if given in a certain order. The utility has the usage of
    "securityUtility encode [options]" but if the user inputs a
    command with the text to be encoded given before the options
    (for example, "./securityUtility encode password --
    encoding=xor"), then the utility will return an error for an
    invalid argument.

Problem conclusion

  • The utility has been updated to be more lenient of parameter
    ordering. The first non-option parameter (a parameter not
    prepended with "--") provided is now treated as the text to be
    encoded, and all other parameters are expected to be options.
    The order of the parameters, however, does not matter.
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix
    pack 8.5.5.4. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page for
