Error description

• The restarted job remains in submitted status resulting with
  java.lang.NullPointerException.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a batch job is restarted, the      *
  *                      batch job scheduler shows the job       *
  *                      remained in submitted state, and        *

  *                      java.lang.NullPointerException in the   *
  *                      batch job scheduler log.                *

  The dispatcher process for this restarted job failed because
  the dispatcher was not able to save the job log section for
  this job to the database when it is running on the control
  region of the server.
  

Problem conclusion

• The runtime code has been updated to switch the servant region
  of the server when it needs to save the job log section to the
  database.
  
  APAR PI26647 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
  8.0.0.11 and 8.5.5.5 of WebSphere Application Server.
