Serviceability enhancement to enable administrators to
automatically produce a sequence of java dumps while a
thread remains hung.

WebSphere Application Server monitors thread activity and
performs diagnostic actions if one has become inactive.  The
first time a server detects that a thread has been active
longer than the time defined by the thread monitor threshold,
the application server will run the dumpThreads function
whenever the Server Custom Property
com.ibm.websphere.threadmonitor.dump.java
is set to TRUE or a positive integer. The server will not
run the dumpThreads function if it detects the same thread
remains inactive over subsequent thread monitor intervals.
APAR PI27232 introduces a new Custom Property to the Hung
Thread Detector that enables the server to track a hung thread
by running the dumpThreads function for a specified number of
iterations while the thread remains hung.

Name: com.ibm.websphere.threadmonitor.dump.java.track
Value: This property specifies the number of intervals the
monitor will call the dumpThreads function while a thread
remains hung.
Set to an integer value in the range 2 through the value of
com.ibm.websphere.threadmonitor.dump.java
to cause the dumpThreads function to be run over subsequent
monitor intervals in which a thread remains hung.  The
integer value indicates the maximum number of times
dumpThreads will be run to track a hung thread. For example,
the value 2 will cause the thread monitor to run dumpThreads
at most twice for a hung thread, once when the thread is
initially detected as hung, and perhaps once again,
if the thread remains hung during the next thread monitor
interval.
This property must be used in conjunction with property
com.ibm.websphere.threadmonitor.dump.java
and has no effect otherwise.
Default: 0 intervals

Problem conclusion

Apply APAR PI27232 to enable the capability to run the
dumpThreads function over a configurable number of thread
monitor intervals while a thread remains hung.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.5.5.5 and 8.0.0.10.  Please refer to the
