APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When using the UDDI registry application, non-ASCII character
    data submitted using the application's forms is not handled
    correctly. As a result, when viewing the data submitted, the
    non-ASCII characters may appear altered or incorrect.

Local fix

  • A workaround that you may consider is adding the following Java
    custom property to the Application Server JVM where the the UDDI
    registry application is deployed to:

    Property: client.encoding.override
    Value: UTF-8

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: UDDI registry application fails to *
    *                      handle non-ASCII characters correctly.  *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The UDDI registry application does not force the use of UTF-8
    when dealing with character data posted using the UDDI
    registry application. The form presented to the browser
    specifies UTF-8.

Problem conclusion

  • This APAR resolves the problem by making the UDDI registry
    application expect character data posted from forms to be UTF-8.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.6. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
