APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• After updating from Liberty Core 8.5.5.1 to 8.5.5.2, an
  EBA application may intermittently fail to start.
  
  The log shows:
  
  com.ibm.ws.app.manager.esa.internal.SubsystemHandler A
  CWWKZ0403E: A management exception was generated when trying to
  install the application application-name-eba into an OSGi
  framework.  The error text from the OSGi framework is:
  java.lang.NullPointerException
  
  com.ibm.ws.app.manager.AppMessageHelper A CWWKZ0012I: The
  application applicion-name-eba was not started.
  
  An FFDC records the NullPointerException with the following

  A change in the threading for EBA application start makes an
  existing potential for NullPointerException more likely.  The
  cause of the NullPointerException is in Apache Felix bundle
  resolver.
  

Problem conclusion

• This APAR resolves the work item by correcting the programming
  error that results in the NullPointerException.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
