Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.0 and * * V8.5 users of JAX-WS clients and services * * that cache attachments * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Users need to control where * * attachment files are cached to disk * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Install a fix pack that contains this * * APAR. * **************************************************************** The JAX-WS engine provides a configuration for customers to cache the attachments to disk. By default, it will be cached to a folder like: IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv02\IBMTmpCD. However, users need a way to configure this folder, so that they can better control and monitor the cached attachments in the disk.
Problem conclusion
This fix allows users to set the com.ibm.ws.websvcs.attachments.attachmentDIR JVM property on the JAX-WS applications. By default, this parameter will be null and attachments will be cached to a folder like: IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv02\IBMTmpCD. The following Information Center topic describes how to set a JVM property: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wasinfo/v8r0/index.jsp? topic=/com.ibm.websphere.nd.iseries.doc/info/iseriesnd/ae/trun_j vm.html This JVM property will take effect after server restart, and attachments will be cached to the path you configure. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.11 and 8.5.5.6.
