A new directive option for WebSphere Application Server NCSA logging to demonstrate XCT logging ID
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server Version * * 8.5.5 users of the National Center For * * Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) Access * * Log and Cross Component Tracing (XCT) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: NCSA access data log does not have a * * directive to return the XCT Context * * ID. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** XCT logging would be improved by providing an NCSA Access Log directive for the XCT Context ID.
Problem conclusion
The HTTP Channel NCSA access log was modified to include the new directive. To include the XCT Context ID in the NCSA access data log, set the HTTP Channel custom property 'accessLogFormat' with the value of %{X}W. Information on how to set HTTP Channel custom properties can be found here: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAW57_8.5.5/com.i bm.websphere.nd.multiplatform.doc/ae/rrun_chain_httpcustom.html? cp=SSAW57_8.5.5%2F3-19-6-413&lang=en The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.5.
